All of the islands shown on this page and in our
are custom made and are shown as examples of what we build. We do not pre-build frames as most everyone has different needs and requirements and it is difficult to modify a frame once it is built. Instead, we choose to build each one to the exact specifications for each customer to fit their space and their design. Our Frame Construction:
Our custom frames are made of welded 6061 tube aluminum and are built to your specifications, not only to your length, width, height, and shape, but to fit the components that you want to install in them. Our frames are strong, light, and able to withstand many years of changing temperature and weather conditions. The outside of the frames are covered with ¼” Hardibacker cement board that is glued to them with construction adhesive and further secured with 304 stainless steel screws. The Hardibacker is then trimmed to fit the openings for your components. This combination of the aluminum frame and Hardibacker construction results in a strong, light, and stable cabinet that is weather tolerant, moisture-resistant, heat and cold tolerant, and durable for decades of use. There is nothing in our cabinet design that will rot, rust, deteriorate, or burn. Our cabinets also include leveling feet, anchor plates, and floor pans.
The interior of our cabinets are open throughout and vented to allow air flow for moisture evaporation and heat release. Air flow through the cabinet of an outdoor kitchen is critical for the proper operation of BBQ grills and in-cabinet refrigerators. Without proper ventilation, gas grills can overheat and any grease inside of them can ignite causing damage to your grill and other components. Refrigerators without proper ventilation will not cool properly and will run continuously, resulting in component failure. Also, without ventilation, any gas leaks that may occur can create a pocket of gas that can result in an explosion. Ventilation not only provides an environment for proper component operation, but one of safety as well.Note:
We do not ship islands with countertops or with a veneer installed. This makes them too heavy and are too likely to be damaged while being shipped. We ship the cabinet with the frame, hardibacker, and floor pans that are ready to be set up at your location and finished with your choice of veneer and countertop by a local contractor. We do not provide any materials for the countertop or veneer. You will need to purchase those locally. Also, if you purchase the components going in your island from us, they will be shipped separately and should be installed after the veneer and countertop have been installed. Our Process:Step 1:
Provide us a sketch or drawing of the island that you would like us to build. This does not have to be anything fancy, but needs to include all dimensions of the structure and the locations of the components to be installed in it. We also need to know what type of veneer and countertop you intend to use. Send your drawing to
and please provide a daytime phone number.Step 2:
Once we receive the drawing, we will provide you a quote via email. Quotes typically take 1-3 days and will be done as soon as we can get to them.Step 3:
After receiving the quote, if you want to proceed we will need to collect a $150 CAD fee. You can pay this online
. The CAD fee is non-refundable and will be applied to the cost of your island. Upon receiving the CAD fee, we will create a CAD drawing of your island and email it to you. This process will take 1-3 days.Step 4:
You will then review the CAD and verify that it accurately represents your design. If changes need to be made, you will inform us of the necessary changes and we will update the CAD and email you an updated version. Once the CAD meets your approval, you will sign the CAD and return it to us.Step 5:
Once we receive the signed CAD, we will finalize the price to build the island which will reflect any changes made since the initial design quote. With the approved CAD and your agreement of the price to build, we would then need to collect 50% of the total charge for us to build and ship the island. This can be paid by credit card or check, but checks will need to clear before we can proceed to build.Step 6:
With 50% payment received, we build the island. This typically takes 2 ½ to 3 weeks to complete and prepare for shipping. Once the island is complete, we will need the remaining 50% payment. When received, we ship the island to your location.
